When
variable rate spreading it is extremely important that the spreader
you use is able to apply different rates of fertiliser on the move
and without requiring any physical adjustment if the machine.
All
KRM Machines use the same patented outlet design. It can be seen
from the photo opposite that the outlet comprises 2 stainless steel
shutters which open away from each other. Using this double shutter
ensures the drop on point remains unaffected by the size of the
outlet. However following extensive testing it has been found that
in order to have no effect upon the spread pattern it is necessary
to advance the drop on point slightly as the application rate is
increased. Therefore on the KRM machine one outlet opens slightly
faster than the other so this advance occurs automatically.
The
graph below shows actual tray test results for one of our machine
spreading the same material at different rates from 40 to 400 Kg/ha.
It can be seen that the same desirable triangular shaped spread
pattern is achieved at all rates. No physical alterations have been
made to the machine, only the application rate has been changed.
The
chart below shows the coefficient of variation for all of the above
spread patterns. It can be seen that in all cases a coefficient
of variation below 10% was recorded which represents an extremely
level spread pattern.
This
clearly demonstrates that you can change the application rate on
the move with a KRM spreader and because of its unique outlet design
the accuracy of the spread pattern is uncompromised.
